goodbye, dear dear friend....

There are no words......
Dear Wonderful Kim, died on Monday morning, September 16th, 2013, just four days after her Birthday.....

Another loss that breaks my heart,,,,,,
Those of you who have been reading my blog for a long time will remember her from the many "Ladies Who Lunch".....
But in truth, you never met the real Kim; the Kim who was so full of life......
The light had faded from her eyes......a true reflection of the light that had faded from her life.....

Like a sister to me, my friend, since 1968,
something died in her when her dear husband Werner died in the year 2000....

No one will ever know how good she was and what a big loving heart she had, or how devoted she was to those she held close, and, how incredibly talented she was, too---an actress of infinite versatility and as beautiful inside as she was outside.

A woman of color who lived through all the hazards of what came with that, back in the day, and still.....

Yet, she survived and she thrived.

She made the BEST of everything she had.....And loved her very special daughter Tanya and Son-in-law Henry with all her Heart.
And she was so very very proud of her four fantastic Grandchildren----Dana, Corey, Aaron and Cohen---each one, so very brilliant and accomplished, and such good people, as well as each one contributing to the betterment of the world by virtue of their very presence, and because of their deep integrity, as people.
They were her pride and joy.

And then there were the three Great Grandchildren....
The Light of her Life!
And a fourth grandchild is due in a few days from now.
And so.....
The Cycle of Life Continues......

Below, just a few pictures of better times.....
I had the privilege of marrying Werner and Kim, after they had been together for twenty years.......and a very sweet wedding it was, too.......
And below.....just one of the many things we shared over the years----this one made more meaningful because our dear friend Betty was in the show.
The Opening Night of "Meet Me In St Louis" on Broadway....
November 2, 1989
.....And later, the Opening Night Party.....
Better times, indeed.......

RIP my dear sweet Kim......

More To Come........

Aw Naomi, when I saw her picture, I knew what had been troubling you so and sadness for you overwhelmed me. We have had the pleasure to have met her through your parties and you have talked about her many times. I know you must be in such pain to have lost such a dear friend. Two of your dearest have left and how painful that must be. The picture of the two of you is just lovely as the one with her and Betty. I guess the only consolidation is that she is with her Werner once again.
My heart goes out to you and her family.

The instant I saw her face, my first reaction was, "oh no," I didn't even need to read to know what had happened. To say I am sorry for your loss is not enough. You have been through so much lately. My condolences to you, to Kim and her family. Her face became as familiar as my own family as I read your posts over the years. I hope she is finally back with her husband and at peace.

Dear Naomi, I am so sorry to hear this news.

We all feel like we know your wonderful friends from all the lunch parties you have shared with us. Kim was beautiful, inside and out and I am sure you will take comfort in knowing she is with her dear Werner once more. It must be very hard dealing with all the losses you have had over the past couple of years. However, you have the most wonderful, vivid memories which, when written down, will hopefully lessen your pain. I am so glad you can share these on your blog. It is wonderful.
For everyone.

I am also glad you will be busy focussing on all the Emmy groups you are associated with. you have a woderful contribution to make given your talents and experience.

I think of you often and I know that no matter the challenges you will deal with them in the best possible way. You are an inspiration always and your influence on us all is wide ranging no matterwhere in the world we live. Take the best care of you. Love Lilly xx

Oh no, I remember her so well from all your Ladies That Lunch posts. She always caught my eye because she was such a beautiful woman, even in old age and in her denim dungarees!

I didn't realise you married her and her husband. That must have been so special.

The cycle of life does continue, but it doesn't make the loss of losing someone who was part of that cycle any easier.

I'm so sorry Naomi, my heart is breaking for you now.
