They live in Northern California---inland, in the Bear Valley foothills of what is known as The Gold Country.

Beautiful photos. Deer in my area don't run in herds but the elk do. Once in awhile we get a chance to see a big herd of them. It's always a treat. I love the times I see the deer also except when one gets hit on the highway. It seems to take a lot of our young ones before they can figure it out.

What wonderful photos!! We never had that many, but I used to see 3-4 everyday and sometimes 9-12. Your friends are lucky to see that many. I would go there for the plums too!!

Such lovely photos! I love the young ones, they really are cute. The plums look good. A friend at work used to give me the plums from her tree, she said they were too tart to eat. I used to make jam with them and they were so good with turkey as the jam was not very sweet. But she retired and moved away, so no more plums, just my figs. And this afternoon I created a fresh fig cake – I’ll use the recipe in a post in the future. It was good and also not too sweet.

Wow, such a sight would make my day. I know how the deer love plums. I didn't get one plum or peach this year, just a pile of deer poop. I'd have given anything to have seen the marauder. They are so beautiful.

Adorable! There were a lot of deer hanging out in my sister's neighborhood in Virginia, too. They gave us that same look when we drove my (very slowly.)

The deer on Exmoor are extremely shy and reclusive but the people whose gardens back onto the moor have high fences to protect their gardens.
