magnificent

Okay. So, here is a picture of a beautiful arrangement sent to me on my Birthday, from my sister Gene, (designed by Van and from Van's Flower Shop---The Conservatory). Beautiful! Luscious! "Spring Into Summer"......Flowers and Nature is all I can write about these days. I am so deeply depressed because of my brothers death....So "flowers" bring me up a little.....Bear with me, please---if you can. A closer look at this hopeful, helpful, heartfelt group of flowers---Oh MY! Aren't those tulips gorgeous? And the roses...and.....and.... What is that strange little flower over on the extreme right---yes---that round little flower that looks like these small cups gathered together? Magnificent! Who is this person---this amazing living presence? Look at the centers...Iridescent Blue?? Hello! Nature created this incredible flower---this complex amazing flower. I'm 81 years old, and this is completely new to me. I have never seen this flower---"SCABIOSA POD". ever, ever, before in my whole life. It Is Magical! And, as with all flowers---the closer you get in, the more amazing you realize nature is...... Flowers within a flower.....And in this case, an iridescent blue flower....How stunning is that? How amazing is that? To me? It is truly miraculous...... Each one of these cups that make up the whole flower has this iridescent blue five point flower in the middle, and the bottom of the cup is this pale green....Beautiful, Beautiful...... No two flowers of any kind, are exactly alike---in shape and even often in shading....This one above was a bit darker---but still, so very gorgeous....And the interior flower is always iridescent blue as well as the bottom of the cup being a pale green---it's the shading that might be different...And here are two more close-ups from two different flowers, below......And just so you can see the whole flower within the arrangement one more time....Here it is, below. Magical!

More To Come..........

I also love scabiosa pods, Naomi. They are so geometrical and I love that; plus they are wonderful conversation-starters.

I am glad that the flowers can help you to focus on the beautiful and lift your spirits for a while.

We are at the beach for a family wedding tonight, and I had to come to Starbucks to have internet!

That is truly an amazing looking plant Naomi. You interested me enough that I Googled it to see if it would grow here. I learned they can grow 3 to 4 feet tall.
Need to do more research but my what a delightful little plant.

That flower is new to me and quite beautiful.

Sometimes, a flower is what will bring us back to our
true nature...one of peace and joy. It can be only briefly sometimes, but at least we know that in this world that is so hard to bear during hard times likes these that there exsists something almost unbelievable beautiful as this glorious flower.
Naomi, you are not alone...and your sadness is universal...we all have our grief and lonliness...even those who appear happy and carefree. Live through it all and when things get too hard, just shut your eyes, breathe deeply and meditate on all that is beautiful in your world. Your dear brother is now wrapping you in love...embrace it...much love,
and respect to a grand dame.

Your sister Gene obviously knows you very well. The arrangement is beautiful, but I'm sorry you are hurting so much about the loss of your brother. It's totally understandable and there is really no reason for you to apologise about what you are showing here on your blog. It's your blog and if flowers are bringing you comfort then that's what you should share with us.

Am catching up on all your blogs flower photos this month. They are truly lovely, especially on this most recent post. I can imagine that you would enjoy growing orchids and have considered doing so myself. I know my SIL on Big Island has been delighted with some she has been able to nurture into bloom. I can only imagine the grief you must feel with the loss of your brother as I think of my much older brother who has medical issues. Do be kind to yourself and treasure your memories.

Hi Naomi! I love your flower photos as usual. LOVED the roses in the previous post. I don't know as I have ever seen this particular flower either, but it sure is pretty and with the close ups that you have shared it does have a flower within the flower. Van makes lovely arrangements! I know you miss your dear brother and I'm glad that the flowers are brightening your days. I think of you often. Big hugs to you dear lady!!

The arrangement is just beautiful but the blue, star-like flowers clustered together...I had never seen anything like it. Why don't I get such flowers? :)

I remember once asking something on my blog about religion and you mentioning nature was somewhat of a religion to you. I can see what you mean; the beauty around you must bring you peace. I'm hoping the days get easier, my friend. One day you will be reunited with all your loved ones, I'm sure...but for now I wish you much health, peace and love in your heart. ♥

This is my first visit to your blog and I'm so glad I stopped by. Sonia Mascaro suggested I visit you because I had to come down to Los Angeles from our home in the mountains, took my camera and posted some LA pictures. You have such a beautiful blog here. I love the flowers, all the flowers, I scrolled as far down as I could. I will come back again. Do you have a Follower Gadget? I didn't see one.

Naomi, this flower arrangement is truly out of this world. Van does a wonderful job putting these beautiful flowers together. He knows exactly what you love.
BTW I posted the most recent pictures of the twinnies today, it's their first birthday.... can you believe that a whole year has passed since they arrived? They are so close to walking, and can say lots of words already. My heart skips a beat when they hold their arms up to me and say "Nana"!
I won't see them today on their birthday as the family is on holiday, but there'll be cake pictures when they come back. :-)
Hugs to you, Naomi!

Hi Naomi. Every picture is stunning -- and that one flower -- (that I won't even attempt to spell!) is amazing. A perfect gift from your sister, who obviously knows you very well!

I'm glad you're taking a break to enjoy the Olympics -- and recharge!
