show business or other businesses.. doesn't it make you wonder where their heads are? The cost of the paper and stamp vs the 6 cents on a check... I got one sent to me once for 29 cents and the stamp is 37... duh...

Gotta love those residuals. They might be small but they keep rollin' in year after year. Having a few more digits on the check would be nice tho. No matter how many checks you get for 6 cents you're not going to be on Easy Street.

Thanks for sharing this one.
That's the reason I choosed not to be in showbiz in this tiny country where I live.
Yes, I've been into it. Even as representant and member of a Theather Group on Festivals abroad. And making /writing comedy shows. And been on film, Radio and TV.
But ended up with IT. Mostly as paper magazin writer and now on the net.
Why? As the only one to pay all bills for a wife and 4 kids...

So now I've been luckely married for 25 years (Dec 3 this year) and my X as our sister - we are all happy - the "kids" as well (born in 1968-69-75-77)) where as the 2 youngest is working in the US.

Have more relatives in your country than here.

OK. This is an open letter. Let it be. 'cause your blogfriends seems to be very openhearted and kind people.

btw: Have you heard from Vence, my friend there? use my e-mail

They really ought to save up those checks until the total is at last $1.....LOL

We used to get dividend checks from an electric cooperative that were for about $ 1.25 per year. The CPA said they were more trouble than they were worth!

OH no! And to think some now get 30 million per movie! I think that is crazy...I don't care who you are. We could wipe out hunger for children in the US for that.

Michele sent me too, and I hope you have a great weekend.

I'm glad they spent more money on sending you your checks than you got. But at least it's something. I can't tell you how many people try to call me up to help them decorate a set for free, because it would "look great on a resume." hahaha. Not that I would work for 97 cents though haha.

That's what I thought it said! It must be a royalty check, I'm guessing. I guess you have to wait till they add up before cashing?

I don't want to do the interview right now...maybe cause my bathroom is brown and I don't want anyone to know. Ha! I inherited it. It's a log home. You can only do so much.

"Indeterminate Retirement Account"
Just think of what $1.02 would be worth compounded annually. No telling how wealthy you could be if you don't draw on it!

I find it incredibly ironic that they call these "royalties". There is, after all, nothing remotely royal about the amounts.

It stuns me how difficult life is for the 99.7% of SAG members who aren't in Richard Gere's or Halle Berry's league. The disparity in income is staggering.

Thank you for allowing us to smile at the irony, Naomi. I hope you had a wonderful week!
