another painted sunset

This is one of the most dramatic pictures I've ever seen....Soooo much is happening in this photograph, so much to see...and wherever you look, there is something to see! This was what the sky looked like from my deck on December 9th, 2006...the sun streaming through like 'stage lights' coming down on the Pacific Ocean and kind of highlighting the buildings in Santa Monica.....do click on this to see it bigger....Oh how I wish it could fill the whole screen....

More To Come.....

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! I love how you can see it raining as well as the reflection of the sun off the ocean. Incredible and stunningly beautiful.

Whenever I see a sky like that, I think of the beginning of bereshit (genesis) "and God said "Let there be light". You gotta think that whomever wrote those words saw a sky like this.

Fantastic!

It's funny but I was looking at the dusk sky this weekend adn saw a similar sky over the estuary as I was driving over the Severn Bridge. The sun was streaming from behind the a couple of clouds adn had backlit them beautifully casting beams of light accross the fiery sky and hitting the water. I only wish I had been able to take a picture . You have captured it brilliantly adn it reminded me of the sky I saw too :-)

We're both watching the sky in amazement and taking photographs of it! I feel so inspired and awed that it is different everyday!

I got my 13 up. I have a snowflake maker and instructions on how to take a crazy 8 ball apart...and a photo of me from the 60s! xo

Looks like Heaven peeking through. M loves cloud and sun formations. I'm going to have to show her this one. You're right, there's so much going on in this picture. Did you see all the layers of shapes and colors in those clouds? Fantastic picture!

Here from Michele this time.
You aren't getting any of that hurricane force wind that the Northwest is under, I hope. Spring has returned here.... my mom hopes it will get cold and snow for Christmas but I told her not to count on it.

Once upon a time, there was a magical building in the valley made all of geometric panes of glass. It seemed to attract rainbows and "stage lights", towering clouds and swirling mist. My husband and I sometimes went miles out of out way to drive by this rainbow's end. Sadly, it was destroyed, gone without a trace. Too bad you had not captured it with your camera. But I'm sure it lives on in the memories of all who saw it.

It is so much better today. Great picture.

Reminds me of the scene in Singing in the Rain where Gene Kelly uses movie lighting and wind machines to set the scene for his romantic moment with Debbie Reynolds.

Beautifully shot!

I always love it when the sun streams through the clouds like that. We have been having very deep orange sunsets here due to the dust in the air from the Australian bush fires.
